Chlorophyll on nodding, leafy throne
waves her wand, commanding light
to dress and veil her, adenine and phosphate
awaiting adoration- serfs and peasants,
mold of leaf and turd of turning worm
in soil’s scrotal rush, come from darkness
eager for another incarnation
each in turn touched on the shoulder-
crystals glitter, fatten root and leaf
burst the bud, nurse the bee
and flow across the tongues of hungry lovers
becoming one with pulsing heart and blood
and join, as we do, watering the bed
and so the earth, an offering
to life- and chlorophyll’s rebirth.
